Kayak around the islands of rich and famous Greeks:
Island hopping by kayak to Scorpios Isle- owned by notorious shipping tycoon Aristotle Onasis; kayak past Jackie O’s beach hut. See Madouri- home of celebrated Greek poet Valaoritis. Stay on Meganisi isle in Spartohori - a hillside village of limewashed houses reminiscent of the dazzling Cyclades. Visit picturesque Sivota- traditional fishing port with many waterfront tavernas. Explore tranquil bays of Lefkada’s southern shores, and swim and snorkel around small unpopulated beaches for your
all inclusive Greece holidays.




Arrive at Vasiliki hotel before 6pm to meet guide. We check kayaking equipment, help pack your gear into supplied dry-bags and run through basic kayak instruction in shelterede Vasiliki Bay Excess luggage is safely stored at our base. Full briefing over dinner at local taverna. (D)

DAY 2    MIKROS GIALOS VIA SIVOTA - paddling distance 18km
After breakfast pack kayaks, followed by short paddling instruction and safety briefing. Begin kayak tour, heading east along coastline to picturesque village of Sivota. This pretty little fishing harbour is a favourite with yachties- who populate the dozens of tavernas on the waterfront. Visit the old olive mill cafe – featuring restored traditional stone press. After leisurely lunch at a local taverna, continue paddling to Mikros Yialos resort village in Rouda Bay, and leave our kayaks on the white shingle beach. Enjoy free afternoon relaxing and swimming in the clear blue water around this long bay. Dinner in a local taverna ,Overnight in ai guesthouse (B, L)

DAY 3   SPARTOHORI, MEGANISI - paddling distance 15km
Transfer to our kayaks at Mikros Yialos to resume paddling.  The stretch of coastline we paddle today offers interesting sea caves to explore, including the remarkable blue cave, with a concealed entrance which cannot be entered by any other boat but kayak. Once inside, the cave is enormous, and its phosphorous water makes swimmers ‘glow in the dark’. Just outside the cave is a colourful reef which is home to many giant red starfish. Cross narrow channel to Meganisi Island for our picnic lunch and rest at Agios Ioannis Beach. Paddle to Porto Spilia, leave kayaks on beach for short trek up to our charming guesthouse in Spartohori village - a labyrinth of  narrow cobbled streets and traditional white houses, bedecked in colourful Bougainvillea. From the terrace there are sweeping views of the Ionian sea to Lefkada. Overnight in guesthouse. (B, L)


DAY 4    MEGANISI  - paddling distance 15km
After breakfast walk downhill to our kayaks at the port to begin our day paddle along the pretty bays of Meganisi to Vathy harbour. Stop for swimming and picnic lunch at a small cove on the way. Leave kayaks at Vathy and walk up to rustic Katomeri village on the hilltop. Explore the snaking streets, and traditional stone houses with thriving vegetable gardens, and overgrown vines. Afternoon return paddle to Porto Spilia. Free evening in Spartohori. Overnight Saprtohori guesthouse. (B, L)

Leave Meganisi today and paddle to nearby Scorpios Isle - owned by notorious Greek shipping tycoon, the late Aristotle Onasis.  Kayak by Jackie O’s chic beach hut- right beside the water. Enjoy swimming and picnic lunch at the only beach open to the public- a magnet for million Euro yachts. Afternoon continue paddling to Nidri, via little church of Agias Kiriaki (Saint Sunday) on the water’s edge in Vliho Bay. Finish today’s paddling and leave our kayaks at vibrant Nidri Port.  Free afternoon to explore Nidri town,  where the statue of the late Aristotle Onasis’ looks over the port. Drop into ‘Nick the Greek’s Taverna’- the owner Nick, is a well known local character who was a close personal friend of the late Aristotle Onasis. Newspaper clippings on the wall, capturing celebrities and friends, give fascinating insight to the shipping tycoon’s life,  and his relationships with Jackie O’ and Maria Callas. DAY 6   NIDRI- - SIVOTA -VASILIKI - distance 14 km
Begin paddling south along Lefkada’s gentle, populated eastern shores. This scenic coastline, is dominated by an imposing mountain rising dramatically behind the seaside settlements and sheltered coves.
We end back to Sivota village- the island’s best fishing port, we paddle straight up to our table at a waterfront taverna for lunch. Popular with locals, the menu here offers fresh seafood, and home cooked dishes prepared in the kitchen by village women. Our kayaking ends in Sivota. After lunch we remove our belongings from the kayaks. Pick up by our private transfer veichle for our scenic return drive to Vasilki.  Drive inland over herb and pine covered mountains, through sleepy villages of Alexandros and Karya- famous for delicate hand embroidered linen. Visit the 16th Century Red Church Monastery tucked away between high mountains. Coming back down the slopes to Lefkada’s east coast, we are treated to panoramic views over the small islets of the ‘Prigiponisia’- the area we have just paddled; including Meganisi, Scorpios isle, and right across the sea to mainland Greece. Continue to our Vasiliki guesthouse for overnight. (B, L)
