Kayak around Odysseus mythological kingdom of Ithaki:
Discover Ithaki –made famous by Homer's mythological tale "The Odyssey", yet unffected by tourism. On this tour we kayak locally, on half day trips to explore Ithaki’s unspoiled beaches, swim & snorkel the crystal waters. We explore the island on foot- trekking over windmill covered mountains and rustic villages.

ITINERARY:
DAY 1 VASSILIKI- AGIOS NIKOLAOS BEACH paddling distance 5km
After breakfast we start
kayaking from Vasilki beach, along the western shores
of Vassilki bay. We follow the uninhabited coastline
to Agios Nikolaos Beach at the southern tip of lefkada
island near the dramatic headland at Cape Doukato.
We enjoy our picnic lunch on this remote beachand
set up our camp for the first night. Optional trek
along the unsealed road from our beach, to explore
some of this rugged headland and visit Agios Nikolaos
monastery. Or just relax and enjoy swimming and
snorkelling around the beach.
DAY 2 AGIOS NIKOLAOS –FISCARDO HARBOUR KEFFALONIA paddling distance 10 km
After early camp breakfast we start paddling
south and cross the open sea between Lefkada and Kefalonia,
heading for Fiskardo harbour. This is 15km stretch
of open sea without portage, which is a comfortable
for experienced paddlers. But we start early while
the conditions are calm and aim to reach the northern
tip of Kefalonia before 12noon, when the winds pick
up and seas can get rough.
Break for picnic lunch and snorkelling in small coves
around Dafnoudi and Vliotits.
Afternoon kayak to a small cove just around from Fiscardo
harbour where we set up our campsite for 2 nights
stay.
Evening we walk to Fiscardo - a picture postcard Italianate
harbour brimming with expensive yachts, restaurants
and very stylish shops. Optional dinner in one of
the excellent harbour restaurants. Camping overnight.
DAY 3 AGIOS NIKOLAOS BEACH paddling distance 12 km
After camp breakfast we prepare for a day paddle to little church on Daskalio islet, which lies in the narrow channel between Kafalonia & Ithaki islands. Return paddle along Kefalonia's gentle east coast, studded with dozens of unspoiled, secluded beaches. Return to our campsite for lunch. Afternoon free-
Optional Drive by hire car -**by group
decision to hire car- cost shared by participants.
Drive to spectacular Assos- peninsular village of
pastel coloured houses beneath a grand Venetian
fortress, 15km from Fiscardo. Also visit nearby
Myrtos - one of Greece's most breathtaking beaches.
Evening free - dinner at your choice of exceptional
restaurants in Fiscardo with ringside seat of the
ritzy yachts.
Camping overnight.
DAY 4 FISKARDO - ITHAKI (Frikes village)
After early morning self
catered breakfast we start our paddle to Ithaki islandi
-unffected by tourism & admired for unspoiled
nature. We cross the channel from Kefalonia to Ithaki
and continue to dranmatic Aphales- a bay characterised
by dramatic white cliffs, remote shingle beaches and
dazzling blue water. Break for picnic lunch and good
snorkelling along labyrinth reef. Continue paddling
Ithaki's norther coastline, via uninhabited beaches
towards peaceful Frikes harbour.
Paddle beyond frikes to a quiet cove just south of
the little port village, where we set up our campsite
for 2 nights.
Afternoon free to walk to Frikes and explore the village
on foot. Dinner your choice of waterside or self catered
camp dinner.
DAY 5 FRIKES - KIONI - FRIKES
After breakfast we take a day trip
paddle to picturesque Kioni (15km return), a traditonal
little fishing port with excellent waterfront restaurants,
caf?s, and shops selling quality local handcrafts.
Optional lunch at one of the best resaurants on the
Ionian islands- serving traditional home made dishes
straight out of the pots. Return paddle to Frikes
after lunch. Afternoon we trek to Stavros village
on the hill above Frikes, visit beautiful Orthodox
church, and 'Odysseus museum' housing artefacts from
Homeric period. Return to our campsite for dinner
and overnight.
DAY 6 FRIKES - VASSILIKI - AGIOFILI BEACH
Today we have to catch the local car ferry back
to Vasilki.
After early breakfast we pack our camping gear and
paddle back to Frikes port - by mid morning, in
time to catch the local ferry. Transfer our kayaks
onto the ferry for our return trip to Vassilki.
Arrive lunchtime, optional paddle around Vasilki
bay untill the famouse beach of Agiofilli for swimming
and snorkelling before we return our kayaks and
gear. Optional Farewell dinner at local restaurant
of your choice. Overnight in Vasilki guesthouse
or in the local campsite.

- 3 nights camping ‘wild’ non organised campgrounds
- One welcome dinner in local Vasilki taverna
- All ferry fares between islands on route
- free transfer from main bus depot in Lefkada town ( not from airport)
NOT INCLUDED :
- Does not include meals or provisions for self catering. Restaurant meals are ‘pay as you go’ and paddlers contribute to provisions kitty for self catered meals and snacks
- Emergency rescue:€120-200, depending on distance and time of rescue
- Hire Car for overland siteseeing- this will be a group decision where all participants contribute to cost of car hire.
